Yesterday’s feature reads: “In 1965 Reed and Cale formed Velvet Underground, along with former college mates of Reed Sterling Morrison and Mareen Tucker.

The band was adopted by Andy Warhol, who managed them, and became the house band at Max’s Kansas City in New York. Warhol’s influence helped the band get a record label and a higher profile.

On the flip side, Warhol demanded the band include Nico on their debut album, something they didn’t want, which is why the album is entitled “The Velvet Underground and Nico”, to insinuate she wasn’t really part of the band.”
