All of
us at the Max’s Kansas City Project wish you a healthy and prosperous 2005.
DAMAGE CONTROL: Initial Program Launch
Community outreach, online and offline...you can help!
We need to raise
$50,000 in order to launch DAMAGE CONTROL, an interactive cyber program
mentoring program focused on making young people more aware of the possible
dangers involved with the choices they may be confronted with surrounding
alcohol and drugs. Far too many of those close to us have been lost to substance
abuse, and statistics show that more and more teenagers are drinking excessive
amounts of alcohol mixed with drugs, besides doing drugs at an earlier age.
DAMAGE CONTROL
will provide resources, tools and a support network focused on preventing young
people from getting hooked on alcohol and drugs. It will feature a Surprise
Mentor for each month of the year. Mentors will be notable individuals “in
recovery” willing to share invaluable experiences and lessons about their own
struggles with getting and staying straight. Mentors will lead chats and post
messages in our online club called Max’s Kansas City. The club will feature a
chat room, a gallery, and a message board allowing its members to connect and
exchange ideas with each other just as we all did in person at Max’s many years
ago.
An innovative and interactive program like DAMAGE CONTROL will reach a large
audience, have an impact, and prove to have positive results.
