On August 27 and 28th 2005, we took a booth at the HOWL Festival in NYC and had

Why It’s
Important to Support “The Wall”
On March 15, 2005, there will be a trial in Federal Court to decide whether “The
Wall,” known as “the gateway to SoHo,” will be replaced by a commercial
billboard. In addition, the Court’s decision may impact the City’s future
ability to protect its public art and the rights of artists to preserve their
works and reputations.
Save the Wall in cooperation with the SoHo Alliance Cordially invite you to a
fundraiser and reception to save and maintain “The Wall,” a historic landmark
sculptured wall in SoHo* by artist Forrest Myers
Thursday, February 17th, 2005
6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the loft of Henry Buhl
102 Prince Street, 5th Floor
New York, NY 10012
Minimum Donation to Party: $50 payable at the door to: “Save the Wall,” a
not-for-profit organization.
A silent auction follows with artworks by well-known artists.
- Thank you! |

(All Hollows Eve)
max's kansas city: a retrospective -
final update
September 3rd - October 14 in
Copenhagen
The "max's kansas city"
exhibition at
Nikolaj, Copenhagen Contemporary Art Center
was a fantastic tribute to max's kansas city, to the many
artists that came through the doors, to it's founder Mickey Ruskin, who
was a patron to the arts and to the vitality, energy and devil-may-care
attitude which revolved around max's in
general.
Superbly done, it was.
As we posted previously, works
on display were created "by a number of the
photographers who have depicted life at Max's constitute a historical
collage, surrounding original works by the visual
artists whose practice was based on and depended on the inspiration and
support they found at Max's."
We
share photos of the exhibition below.

Fashion creations for the
first max's retrospective at nikolaj in Copenhagen were done by Ann
Charlotte Vengsgaard of ACExperience and the photos can be seen by

< Incredible shots.
(Flash req'd)
The fashion show was part of
the opening night for the exhibition and was also part of Cultural Night
that over 3600 people attended.

PLUS....CHERRY VANILLA at Don Hills
Sprit Club - RAMONES Bash -
R.I.P. Johnny Ramone 1958-2004

"Be Well"
Ramones
Beat on Cancer |
The
Strokes are one of the top name bands to perform at the star-studded
benefit tribute for Johnny Ramone, who died last week after a long fight
with Cancer.
"Be Well: Ramones Beat on Cancer" will take place on October 8th,
the day that would've marked Johnny's 56th birthday. The event will take
place at the NY club Spirit.
Proceeds will be given to the Cedars-Sinai Cancer Research Center and
the Lymphoma Research Foundation. Johnny's death came as a result of
prostate cancer, while Ramones' frontman Joey Ramone lost his bout with
lymphoma in 2001.
Some of the headlining guests include the Strokes, David Johansen of the
NY Dolls, Sonic Youth, Blondie and Andrew W.K.
The concert will also include an exhibition of band paraphernalia.
Ramones producer Daniel Rey, former bassist C.J. Ramone and surviving
original member, drummer Tommy Erdelyi are also slated to perform.

Don Hills - Cherry Vanilla -
a message from
Cherry
(September 26, 2004) ...
   |
I'm doing
a gig at Don Hill's in NYC on Oct. 15th, the night before my 61st
birthday ... first time playing with Louie, Manny, Howie and Zecca since
Squeezebox (at Don Hill's) in 1996 and only the third time playing
together in the last 22 years. And like the song says ... "this could be
the last time."
So, if
you're in Manhattan on Oct. 15th, come on down to Spring and Greenwich
for our 11:30 PM set and celebrate my birthday with me. "And the band's
still cookin' like to make ya drool!"

in advance.

"The underground is
overflowing with myth. From Andy Warhol's Factory of the 1960's
there came a stream of characters which have mostly passed into the
archives of legend and have themselves become mythic figures.
Bizarre and extreme,
eccentric personalities, they have left behind their ghostly images,
captured on film, in photographs and sound recordings, on canvas and
in our imaginations.
Warhol provided the
inspiration for countless numbers of renegade, misfit youth: Joe
Dallesandro, Billy Name, Edie Sedgewick, John Cale, Nico, Ondine,
Lou Reed, Viva, Jackie Curtis, Candy Darling, the Chelsea Girls… and
then there was Holly Woodlawn."
an excerpt from the
Tom Garretson interview with Holly
Woodlawn |
This is
Holly's first full-length show in New York City in 15 years
- CONGRATULATIONS HOLLY!
